Easter Egg-Art Hunt Event a Success!

Submitted by libbey_paul on Wednesday, 15 April 2009

The Oak Park Arts District hosted its 2nd annual Easter event on Friday, 4/10.  Over 200 children and their families attended.

Families started at Trattoria 225, with many children getting their photos taken with the Easter Bunny.  They then received an Egg-Art Hunt map and collage palette, and went to eight businesses across the district to fill in their collage with paper eggs.  At some businesses, they decorated the eggs themselves with stickers, crayons or fabrics.  At others, they received already patterned eggs.

When they completed the collage, families returned to Trattoria 225 for a prize Easter egg and a raffle entry for gift certificates from businesses across the District.  Along the way, adults received a free cup of coffee from Buzz Cafe, while children were treated to a cookie from Eastgate Cafe.

“It was great to see the children completely absorbed in decorating their eggs,” said Pamela Penney, owner of Pamela Penney Textile Arts and president of the Oak Park Arts District Business Association.  “We love to see the street humming with activity, and plan to repeat this event next year.”

In addition to the restaurants mentioned above, participating businesses included:
