Children’s Fall Art Classes

Enroll your child(ren) in the Oak Park Arts District’s Art Classes and expand their existing art skills through classes with the following participating studio/galleries:

  • BEAD IN HAND: (145 Harrison St., 708-848-1761) Julia Schaefer, a multi-media artist, has been running children’s classes and birthday parties since she started working at Bead in Hand in 2000. Students will learn age appropriate beading skills to create unique beaded objects.
  • INTUIT DANCE: (237 Harrison St., 312-505-0816) Pulling from her life-long experience as a dancer, choreographer and educator, Diane VanDerhei, has created a curriculum that develops dance technique while engaging imaginations and creativity.
  • PAMELA PENNEY TEXTILE ARTS: (130 Harrison St., 708-785-7782) Textile and fiber artist, Pamela Penney, has been teaching and sharing her passion for textiles with children and adults for over 20 years. Students will work with a variety of fiber art materials and techniques.
  • PRODIGY GLASSWORKS (207 Harrison St., 708-445-8000) Laura Henderson has been working with fused glass since 2002. Students will learn fusing fundamentals and make a project that combines color and texture into a unique glass piece.
  • STUDIO LIGHT (27G Harrison St., 708-955-4666) Visual artist and writer, Karen Light, has worked with children of all ages on a variety of art projects through Urban Gateways and other organizations. She strives to teach students more about themselves and the world through engaging, creative art-making.

Fall Schedule - On each of these days, students will rotate between the participating studios for a fun-filledday of art and creative activities!

  • COLUMBUS DAY ART CAMP! Oct. 12th (Mon), 9:00 am - 3:00 pm - Students should bring their own packed lunch and snacks - $95 (or $90 if you also register for Veteran’s Day)
  • HALF-DAY ART AFFAIR! Oct. 22nd and 23rd (Thurs + Fri), 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm - $160 for both days / $85 for one day
  • VETERAN’S DAY ART CAMP! Nov. 6th (Fri), 9:00 am - 3:00 pm - Students should bring their own packed lunch and snacks - $95 (or $90 if you also register for Columbus Day)
