Children’s Summer Art Camp and “No School Day” Camps-2010

Summer Art Camp - 2010

2 - Two Week Camps!  June and August -  Register for one or both!   Morning Only, Afternoon Only or All-Day options!

Two Age Groups -  5-7 years and 8-11 years

June 14-25 or August 9-20, 2010
Mornings 9:00 AM –11:45 AM    Afternoons 12:30 –3:15 PM    All-Day 9:00 AM - 3:15 PM

Enroll your children in the Oak Park Arts District’s Summer Art Camp and give them the opportunity to expand their art skills with professional artists through dance and movement, mixed-media, glasswork, beading, painting, culinary arts, fiber arts, print-making, yoga and more.   Children will rotate between a variety of studio/galleries for a fun and creative experience.

Our adult artist/teachers will escort the student between studio locations and the all day campers will have a supervised lunch break.  A daily schedule with drop-off and pick-up locations will be emailed to you a couple of weeks prior to the start of camp.  Please indicate in the special comments section of the enrollment form if there is a friend or sibling in the same age group that your child would like to be with during the camp.  We will make every effort to accommodate your request.  Please note any allergy or activity restrictions as well.

“No School Day” Art Camps- Winter 2010

Ages 5-11 years

Jan. 18, Jan. 25, Feb. 15, Mar. 1 or April 23, 2010
9:00 AM –12:00 PM and/or 12:30 –3:30 PM

Kids will rotate between 2 Arts District Studios in the morning and 2 in the afternoon for a fun-filled day of art and activities. The children will have a supervised lunch break, so please send a bag lunch and a drink.

$50 per half-day or $90 if you register for the whole day!

Participating Studios (No School Day Program):

  • INTUIT Dance (237 Harrison St., 312-505-0816) Pulling from her life-long experience as a dancer, choreographer and educator, DianeVanDerhei has created a curriculum that develops dance technique while engaging imagination and creativity.
  • Bead in Hand (145 Harrison St., 708-848-1761) Julia Schaefer, a multi-media artist, has been running children’s classes and birthday parties since she started working at Bead in Hand in 2000. Students will learn age-appropriate beading skills to create unique beaded objects.
  • Pamela Penney Textile Arts (130 Harrison St., 708-785-7782) Textile and fiber artist Pamela Penney has been teaching and sharing her passion for textiles with children and adults for over 20 years. Students will work with a variety of fiber art materials and techniques.
  • Creative Changes (140 Harrison St., 708-805-2441) Terry Mueller, studio owner and artist, will give your child the opportunity to express her/himself without pressure or expectation. Paint, brushes and supplies are provided in an atmosphere of non-judgment and acceptance.
  • Calypso Moon Studio (331B Harrison St., 708-848-1385) Sallie Wolf is a watercolor artist, teacher and author of several children’s books. Multi-media artist, painter and teacher, Jennifer Tiner, is currently attending SAIC and has been teaching children for several years. Sallie and Jenny will be teaching age-appropriate drawing, painting and collage during the program.
