Snow City Arts is a Chicago nonprofit that provides educational opportunities to children who miss school because of their need for extended medical treatment. Using the arts as a springboard for learning, Snow City Arts offers daily workshops in Creative Writing, Music, Visual Arts, Filmmaking, and Theater to children suffering from cancer, organ failure, or any other serious illness.
Snow City Arts began as a grass roots organization in 1998 in a single hospital serving a few hundred children. Since then, Snow City Arts has served more than 12,000 chronically ill children across Chicago and has gained local and national recognition for its innovative work. Rush University Medical Center is the flagship for Snow City Arts, and over the years has added programs at Stroger Cook County Hospital and Children’s Memorial Hospital. All told, Snow City Arts educates over 1,600 children per year. Learn more about Snow City Arts.
