Art Dans La Rue in Downtown Oak Park

Art dans la Rue  - Ooh la la!Downtown Oak Park

Downtown Oak Park will host the Oak Park Arts District and the Oak Park Area Arts Council in a mini-celebration of the arts on Thursday, August 6, from 5-9pm on Marion and Lake StreetsArt dans la Rue (Art in the Streets) will feature local artistic talent who will showcase visual arts such as glass blowing and painting, the performing arts, including music and dance, and also the more spiritual art of yoga. Children will be invited to join Diane VanDerhei of Intuit Dance, in a short, creative dance lesson. Other interactive opportunities will include Byzantine chain making and origami demonstrations.

French Cabaret singer Claudia Hommel will be performing from 5-7 pm followed by Steve Gibons and his European ensemble from 7-9 pm. More than 20 local artists will line Marion Street to display their works for enthusiasts to purchase or admire. There will also be demonstrations from Expressions Graphics, Creative Changes, Yoga Trek Center, Ukulele Club of Oak Park, Prodigy Glass, and 325 Healing Center.
