Call for Submissions for Beatles Mail Art
Art Gecko invites artists to contribute to “The End”, a mail art exhibit commemorating the 40th anniversary of the breakup of The Beatles

WHY: To commemorate the 40th anniversary of The Beatles’ final performances/recordings as a group. “The End” is a song by The Beatles composed by Paul McCartney (credited to Lennon/McCartney) for the album Abbey Road. It was the last song recorded collectively by all four of The Beatles, and is the final song of the medley that dominates side two of the LP version of the album.
WHO: Open call to artists worldwide.
WHAT: 2D and 3D artwork related to The Beatles (family-friendly art only, please).
Artwork will be available for sale via a silent auction, the proceeds of which will benefit the Animal Care League of Oak Park, IL – see DETAILS*.
WHEN:
- Deadline for submissions: postmarked by June 30, 2009.
- Exhibit dates: July 17 through September 18, 2009.
- Opening reception (& start of silent auction): Friday, July 17, 2009, 6-9 pm.
- Closing reception (& end of silent auction): Friday, September 18, 2009, 6-9 pm.
HOW: Entries must be sent through the postal mail service to Art Gecko Ltd.
WHERE: Send artwork to Art Gecko, 19 Harrison St., Oak Park, IL 60304, USA. All work meeting the criteria will be exhibited at Art Gecko Gallery and online at artgeckoltd.com.
*DETAILS:
- No fees.
- No returns unless, upon submission, you opt out of the silent auction benefit and arrange for pick up of artwork (please include this information with your submission).
